Suspended Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ambrose Alli University chapter, Prof. Monday Igbafen, has opened a can of worms on the institution as he described his suspension by the authorities as unfounded and an attempt to wake up a “dead horse.”
Igbafen, an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy, was suspended for alleged sexual harassment.
Addressing reporters in Benin City, the Edo State capital, Prof. Igbafen said there have been several attempts to compromise him but since he refused, they resorted to blackmail him.
He said; “If you have been monitoring development in AAU, Ekpoma, you will not be surprised that a paper like this is coming from the university administration.
“It is the climax of a desperate Vice-Chancellor who has so many things to hide, which we will bring to the press.
“I am doing my job as ASUU chairman; there have been several attempts to compromise me, but I refuse, the next thing for them was to resort to blackmail.”
