The embattled national chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, Ali Modu Sheriff has finally gained access to the national secretariat of the party.
Mr Sheriff had stormed the secretariat in the early hours of Monday with several of his supporters, but was denied entry by officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
Mr Sheriff told reporters outside the Wadata Plaza that he was resuming duties based on a court order.
He returned to the secretariat at around noon, but police officers insisted they would only allow him to enter the secretariat if his supporters dispersed from the area.
The former Borno governor, thereafter left the secretariat at about 12:25 pm and returned shortly after the supporters had dispersed according to eye-witness accounts.
