Mr. Ferdinand Orbih, SAN, the Rivers state counsel to the People’s Democratic Party in political matters involving PDP, All Progressives Congress and Independent National Electoral Commission, has withdrawn his legal services to the party.

Orbih announced his withdrawal during the Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, February 6, 2019.

Speaking on why he withdrew from the political matter, Orbih noted his withdrawal was based on personal and on “compassionate ground.”

Orbih said that his withdrawal did not affect the applications he had filed before the court.

In his words; “My name is on the applications; withdrawal of appearance and not a withdrawal of any application.

“If there is the need to contribute, I will. I am not a frivolous person,” he said.

Reacting to Orbih’s withdrawal, the counsel to APC, Mr. Prince Azunda and Mustapha Ibrahim said there should be “consequences of his withdrawal.”

They contended that Orbih’s withdrawal amounted to a defeat of his applications.

They said; “There must be a consequence of his withdrawal.”

The SAN on February 5, however, argued that the court should not entertain APC’s appeal against the judgment of Justice Kolawole Omotosho of the Federal High Court Judgment of January 7, barring APC from presenting candidates for the general election.
