The Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital,(EKSUTH), Ado Ekiti on Thursday raised the alarm over rising cases of abandoned corpses in its morgue.
It was reported that the Chief Medical Director,(CMD) of the hospital, Dr Kolawole Ogundipe, in a statement in Ado Ekiti said families of many of the corpses have refused to claim them for a very long time.
He said such unclaimed bodies were fast becoming something else to the hospital and had occupied virtually all the few available space in the mortuary.
The statement warned that affected relations and families should come forward without delay to remove their corpses.
It gave a one week ultimatum, within which such corpses must be removed to avoid impending mass burial.
Such mass burial, he explained would help decongest the mortuary and allow for sanity in the environment.
