American comedian and actor Kevin Darnell Hart has been announced as the host for the 91st Academy Awards slated for February 24, 2019.
This was made known by the comic-actor in an Instagram post on Tuesday.
Taking to his Instagram handle, he wrote; ‘‘For years I have been asked if I would ever host the Oscars and my answer was always the same. I said that it would be the opportunity of a lifetime for me as a comedian and that it will happen when it’s supposed to. I am so happy to say that the day has finally come for me to host the Oscars.
“I am blown away simply because this has been a goal on my list for a long time. To be able to join the legendary list of hosts that have graced that stage is unbelievable.”
He added; “I know my mom is smiling from ear to ear right not. I will be sure to make the Oscars a special one. I appreciate the Academy for the opportunity. Now, it’s time to rise to the occasion.”
Hart is an award-winning comedian and comic-actor who has anchored sold-out shows and starred in blockbuster movies.
Prior to this new accomplishment, Hart has previously hosted award ceremonies like the BET Awards in 2011 and the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards.
