Orlando Pirates Chairman Irvin Khoza has hit out at fan criticism aimed at newly appointed coach Jose Riveiro.
The Buccaneers sent shockwaves through local football after announcing a completely unknown new coach in Riveiro.
The Spanish mentor, who was most recently coaching Finnish side FC Inter, is NOT a ‘plumber’ according to Khoza.

“I am humbled because one social media activist in the Twittersphere did not take to rhetoric to talk about a plumber because that is insulting and demeaning.” the Orlando Pirates Chairman told Sunday World.
“He spoke to journalists from the [coach’s home] country and he did not come back with words such as a plumber. It helps to have a meaningful debate.
“People just want to insult and they do not bring solutions to the table. It was a thorough search for the coach.
“It was a rigorous process and it’s interesting when you look at some of the coaches that we have at Orlando Pirates.
“If you look at the various coaches in our respective teams, they have won nothing. We have done our best as a club.”
In other news, Outgoing Orlando Pirates midfielder Nkanyiso Zungu has opened up on his heartbreaking spell at the Buccaneers.
Zungu joined the club with much expectation in 2020. Things however didn’t go according to plan for the midfield maestro.
Zungu made just TWO appearances for the Buccaneers during the previous season.

“Sometimes things happen, you get a lot of frustration and end up having depression.” the Orlando Pirates star said as quoted by SoccerLaduma.
“Depression makes you do things and I don’t want to talk about it, for now, it is personal but now I’m okay and want to play football.
“Besides not playing football, there were a lot of things that were happening in my life personally which caused the depression but I don’t want to talk about it.
“What I’ve learned at Orlando Pirates, as a player you have to work hard, be disciplined and always understand your role.
“Always be professional, respect yourself and others around you. You’re always playing for the badge, not for yourself.”
