The Nigerian Army has listed its achievements in the ongoing Operation Crocodile Smile II in the Niger Delta region, the major one being the destruction of criminal refuges across the region.
Col Aminu Iliyasu, Deputy Director Army Public Relations 6 Division affirmed that the continual deployment of troops on land and waterways have been effective since the operation started.
Iliyasu confirmed the destruction of a number of refuges belonging the criminals and put in place measures that will continue to checkmate any possible attack on the public.
He said with the recent measures taken by the army, kidnappers, armed robbers, sea pirates, cultists, illegal oil drillers and crude oil thieves will not have a field day any more.
Iliyasu also made it clear that various items employed by these criminals and cultists have been seized by the troops during the operation.
According to him, an undisclosed number of cultists and criminals were arrested and delivered to the necessary authorities.
The Nigerian army has also encouraged the public to give information that can help it carry out its function as expected.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai launched the operation on October 13 2017, as confirmed by the News Agency of Nigeria.
