Brazil and Real Madrid fullback, Marcelo, has reiterated that his compatriot, Neymar, who currently plays for French side – Paris Saint Germaine (PSG), will play for the Los Blancos in the future.
Marcelo made this assertion in an interview with Esporte Interativo ahead of Madrid’s showdown with PSG in the Champions League last 16 on Wednesday.
“I think Neymar will play for Real Madrid one day,” Marcelo said, “Would Neymar fit at Real Madrid? He would fit, for sure. It would be great if he came to Real Madrid. In my opinion, the great players have to play at this club.”
Though Neymar just completed his world-record €222 million transfer from Barcelona to PSG last summer, he has repeatedly been linked with a sensational switch to Madrid.
Real Madrid’s President, Florentino Perez has earlier stoked the flames of a bid for the Brazilian by claiming that he has a better chance of winning the Ballon d’Or at Real.
“It’s difficult to see who will take the leadership away from Cristiano [Ronaldo] and [Lionel] Messi,” said Perez in December.
“Being at Madrid would make it easier for Neymar to win it [the Ballon d’Or]. Madrid is a club that gives big players what they need.”
Real Madrid and PSG are set for a two-legged Champions league showdown starting on February 14 at the Santiago Bernabeu, with the return leg two weeks later in Paris.
