A man suspected to be mentally challenged, Lekan Adebisi, on Monday allegedly stormed St. John’s Anglican Primary School, Agodo, in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State and hacked two pupils to death.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi gave the victims names as Mubarak Kalesowo and Sunday Obituyi, both 4-year-old kindergarten pupils. The suspect was said to have stormed the school while the pupils were on lunch break and attacked them. He hit them repeatedly with a cutlass until they gave up the ghost.
Adebisi who is said to be known in the community reportedly fled the scene immediately.
The police PRO said the Area Commander, Ogbere, Divisional Police Officers Ogbere and Abigi have moved to Agodo and investigation had commenced into the incident.
He said police operatives were already on the trail of the assailant, and he would definitely be arrested.
According to reports, the school has no protecting gate, making it easy for the mentally unstable man to gain access to the premises.
