In many markets, lies sell. It is the reason why many people buy them. Humans often try to run from truth when they are cornered. Many make fervent attempts to scoot from it. But the more you strive to keep a distance from that which is the truth, the faster it catches up with you.
The truth that I express today is about life. Many among us find it hard to grapple with this truth. Life is like a big football stadium. At the stadium, contests are conducted and games are played. Some people play fair, some play foul. Some play wickedly, some play congenially. Some play wisely, some play foolishly. Whichever way we play and for however long, the game will definitely come to an end. We all come in as players in a game that has a time-limit.
The world we live will be a better place and the life we lead will have a sweeter taste only If we embrace the truth and wholly confront it in all we have to do. Truth not told to oneself, my friends, is self-enslavement. This is the truth. Rich and powerful men do not own the stadium called life. The affluent does not lay his head on a pillow in deep sleep after a game at the stadium. Everybody goes back home where they came from. We may have no knowledge of the time or season of the journey; but one day, you and I will go back home, wherever it is. That time of life is in the exclusive knowledge of the Omniscient One.
We often need to sit back, nudge truth into ourselve, and think life through. Is life worth all the maddening hassles and hustles? We live as if the game here is eternal. Powerful and privileged men trample on the weak and weary to grab an upper-hand. Rich folk walk all over the poor because they seek convenience and comfort for themselves. The reminder must always go out to them that inconvenience, discomfort, and confusion follow men who crave lives of convenience and comfort for themselves only, but create lives of inconvenience and discomfort for others.
Ask the wicked man next door what has he to gain from bringing hurt to others? Probe him who egg on young boys and girls in a killing spree if he will live forever and never die. Ask that foolish man who wants all the money in the world how much of his greed reward will he take with him when the curtain falls. The stolen dollars left behind in safekeeping by a thieving president, state governor, senator, and irresponsible leaders will be spent by strangers. The stashes and stacks cannot be moved by wire transfer or by Western Union to the dead man’s new abode; heaven or hell! It’s over forever when death comes. All the money made and wealth built will remain here at the stadium.
Death is creepy. The Grim Reaper is a loony. It’s a phenomenon worse than the devil. It is, however, ironic that those who bring wickedness to the doorsteps of others also fear death. Those who have signed a Faustian pact with the occult shedding innocent blood also quiver and shiver when death comes knocking. Must anyone fear death? Your fear makes no difference. Death’s visitation is inevitable. It is a clamp-down surety that no human weapon can kill death. If wicked men are sure that all we boast about will come to an end someday; why do we hurt and kill each other to stand shoulder high among men?Man can pay off his earthly debt; but he is not wealthy enough to pay off the debt he owes death. And one day, we will not know when, death will take what it wants from us all. When a man dies, he is not empowered to look back. His sojourn is in another realm deep into the nadir of the stratosphere.
Think about this. Anytime we beat illnesses that could have killed; when we beat accidents that could have maimed; or we escape tragedies and disasters that could have ended our life dreams; but instead, and from them all, we come out laughing, dancing and testifying. These are nothing but nudges from God in Heaven that we owe this world, much more than the price we have ever paid living in it. Let’s think more about others; not just our selfish selves. Let us do good, instead of electing to wreak evil on others. Your house may be bigger than your neighbour’s; your car newer than your friend’s; and you’ve got it bigger than everyone, but who cares? Why use your possessions and positions as weapons of oppression against the lowly? You have nothing that was not given to you by the Giver of life. And whatever was given can be taken away by GOD when he says your time is up.
What I have expressed above is nothing but the truth because life spins on its existential axis. Truth is the only compass that paves a pellucid path toward a distinctly specific direction. The navigational system that charts aright the course of man to his destination is powered by truth. Abhorring the truth is avoiding a life with good fruits. A man who runs from the truth will run forever without rest. A nation which detests the truth will also despise discussions and dialogues aimed at shedding a light on the darkness that lies bring. The sweetest and most romantic bedmate of a person going somewhere in life is truth and telling it the way it is. God formed the entire world on truth; but man, whom He created to live therein, runs it on the fast track of lies and self-deception.
Time and man operate on a three-dimensional stand – the beginning, middle and the end. Within the three-dimensional stand sentient beings are born and they die. We live in a visible, physical, but temporary world. Time and man are impermanent and this is the truth. Life! What a big football stadium that no man owns. And nobody lays his head on a succoring pillow in slumber after a game at the stadium. We have all come as players in a game that has a time-limit. Whichever way we play and for however long, the game will definitely end. When it ends, how do you end? How will you be remembered? How will your footprints be etched on the lawn of history when the game is over and the floodlights at the stadium shuts down and out? Think about this.
