Mrs. Elizabeth Adebanke Fagunwa, the wife of iconic Yoruba language novel pioneer, Chief Daniel Olorunfemi Fagunwa is dead.
She passed on to glory at a Lagos hospital on Sunday.
She died at the age of 86.
Prior to her death, she had graced a book presentation in honour of her husband. The book, ”Celebrating D.O. Fagunwa: Aspects of Africa and World Literary History”, a definitive book on Fagunwa, is edited by Adeleke Adeeko and Akin Adesokan.
At the conference, Chief Elizabeth Fagunwa had spoken on the true story of Fagunwa’s death which was until then shrouded in mystery and half-truths.
She had enjoyed tremendously the three-day conference in Akure and the presentation of the book on her husband in Ibadan organised by the Fagunwa Study Group.
May her soul rest in perfect peace.
