Chairman, Leaders of Thought, South of Nigeria, Prof. Ben Nwabueze, an elder statesman and erudite constitutional lawyer, had hinted that Kanu promised to stop the agitation for Biafra if the Federal Government accepts the growing demand for the restructuring of the county where the federating units will control their resources.
The lawyer made this disclosure in Lagos, at a press conference organised by Project Nigeria Movement.
In his words, “Nnamdi Kanu, who is being castigated for calling for self-determination, has authorised me to say that if restructuring is in progress along the line the Leaders of Thought are canvassing, that he would plead with his members and withdraw the agitation for Biafra.
“I want to say here that anyone opposing restructuring Nigeria to a position where each federating unit would be allowed to control its affairs in a one Nigeria is the one seeking to break Nigeria and not Nnamdi Kanu.
“If they refused to restructure Nigeria as so stated then there will be trouble and the trouble will not be caused by Nnamdi Kanu.
Nwabueze had earlier at the conference released a 22-page paper containing the position of the Leaders of Thoughts on the agitation for restructuring.
