The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has stated that the raid of elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark’s Abuja residence by some police officers was not authorised by him nor was he aware of the raid until it was reported in the media.
The IGP made this known in a statement released by Force Public Relations Officer, Ag. DCP Jimoh O Moshood, and posted on the Force official social media accounts.

The statement further revealed that the IGP has ordered the immediate detention of the four police personnel and informant involved in the raid.
The IGP Monitoring Unit has also been directed to investigate the search with the outcome of the investigation to be made public.
While restating the Force commitment to securing the nation, Jimoh reiterated that the Force will not condone misconduct by any of its personnel that can run contrary to the rule of law.
The raid was reported to have been in search of illegal ammunition and guns but yielded no such results.
Here are some of the reactions that trailed the statement:
Because there was nothing incriminating you found in his house, it has suddenly become an unauthorized operation. Lies! lies! lies!, you authorized it.

@PoliceNG read this tweet again, slowly. Caught on? Yes that's it, you sound dumb! Incompetent. Is there a parallel police force? It's better to apologize and then punish whomever is involved than feigning not knowing all the time. Sheesh!

Buhari didn't know he didn't go to where the IG was ordered to go. It is perfectly possible for the IG not to be abreast of what his subordinates are doing#likebosslikejunior
