MTN Uganda is the largest telecom company in Uganda, with 11.2 million subscribers, accounting for 55 percent market share, as of 30 June 2017. How to Register On MoMo. By 31 December 2019, its customer base had increased to 12.6 million customers. In March 2021, the Uganda Communications Commission estimated the number of MTN customers in Uganda at 15 million, out of 28.3 million mobile network subscribers, thereby attaining a 53 percent market share.

To register for Mobile Money, follow any one of these two easy processes:

In store

Step 1: Visit your nearest authorized Mobile Money agent.

Step 2:Upgrade your SIM to a Mobile Money-enabled card using a SIM swap.

Step 3: The agent will take you through the registration process.

Step 4: Fill out the physical registration form and bring the original document (plus a copy of) any of the following:

  • Valid passport;
  • Driver’s license;
  • Company ID;
  • Government ID;
  • Tax certificate;
  • LC certificate; or
  • Voter’s card

Step 5: Complete your registration by opening an account with a balance of UGX 0

 

At home

Step 1: Download the registration form

Step 2: Fill it out

Step 3: Drop it off at the nearest MTN service point with a copy of your ID and passport photograph.

Or

Email a scanned copy of the form together with your ID and passport photograph to register@mtn.co.ug.
