Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State said he has directed the Executive Secretary of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Philip Attachin, to immortalize the late Elizabeth Ochanya by renaming a primary school after her.
The governor disclosed this on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, during an interview with journalists in Makurdi.
Ortom also directed SUBEB to upgrade facilities in the school adding that the renamed school falls within the immediate community of Ochanya.
He said; “I have instructed the SUBEB boss to give a facelift to the LGEA primary school, Ogene Amejo in Okpokwu local government area where the late Ochanya who was allegedly raped by her uncle and son had her primary education.
“We shall provide all instructional materials for the school and name it after her,” Ortom added.
