Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State has commended the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the victory it got at last Saturday’s LGA election in the state.
Gov Ambode, who spoke on Sunday, said the victory was a confirmation that Nigerians in the state believe in the party.
The overwhelming results showed that the APC won all the vacant chairmanship and councillorship seats in the 57 councils of the Lagos, as declared by the State Independent Electoral Commission.
The Lagos State governor said in his congratulatory message that the victory is for democracy and the grassroots.
“This victory is a confirmation of the trust that Lagosians have in the party. In that regard, I like to congratulate our great party, the All Progressives Congress, for the landslide victory at the Saturday election in all the 57 councils.
“I particularly note the peaceful conduct of the electorate, who came out to exercise their franchise in favour of their preferred candidates despite the heavy rain. This will go a long way to strengthen our resolve to push ahead with our vision to transform the local government system.”
Gov Ambode thanked both the LASIEC and the electorate in the state for the success, stating that the poll result is evident that Lagosians are interested in participatory governance.
Promising his contribution to good governance, the governor said those disgruntled by the result should vent their dissatisfaction to the relevant authorities.
