The 2017 edition of Kick for Love of the Destiny Trust (TDT) was splendid, giving homeless children and several others present a swell time.
The event, which held on Sunday, 17th December 2017 at the City of David Turf, Victoria Island, Lagos, had in attendance a multitude of spectators and homeless children from the shanty towns of Marwa and Aboki Estate, Lekki.
The football event featured four football teams: Triumphant Football Club, Black Football team, the Potter’s Clay and the highly talented team of teenage footballers, TDT Rising Stars. Also, the Destiny Ladies entertained the spectators with their cheerleading skills.
While welcoming all and sundry, Mr Seun Abimbola, the Project Manager of the event, reiterated the mission of the organization and the event. According to him, TDT attends to the needs of children and households in impoverished communities through an integrated range of assistance such as education and the provision of basic needs.
Abimbola added that Kick for Love is a charity event aimed at a food drive for the needs of homeless kids under the auspices of the organization. He, therefore, encouraged all to give in support of the initiative.
Also, present at the event was the Assistant Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mr Siji Lagunju. Mr Lagunju, who presented medals to the skilled teenage footballers, encouraged the players not to relent, and made the most exciting announcement when he invited three of the boys for trials into the U-17 national team.
The success and the thrill of Kick for Love will forever be stamped in the memory of everyone, and especially the homeless children who got a splendid Christmas experience, and an assurance of love and care.
