A Cruise missile has been fired targeting the Islamic State group in the eastern Syrian province of Deir el-Zour by a warship in the Mediterranean on Tuesday, as reported by Russia’s Defense Ministry.
The Syrian President Bashar Assad has a main backer, Moscow, and such missile has been fired from the sea and mainland Russia in the past.
A group of militants stationed near the city of Deir el-Zour, has been targeted by Kalibr cruise missiles. The city of Deir el-Zour, has been used by the government forces to get to the area under the cover of the Russian airstrikes.
A lot of neighborhood has been reached y the Syrian government forces, and also a nearby airport surrounded by the IS.
Government forces are putting in their best to put an end to the three year blockage caused by the Islamic State group on parts of the eastern city of Deir el-Zour, the Syrian opposition activists reported.
Deir el-Zour, a provincial capital of the oil-rich province of the same name, has been advanced into by the Syrian troops and allied militiamen.
Two Russian men were killed in shelling in Syria’s east, said the Russian defense ministry. They were killed when a convoy escorting Russian cease-fire monitoring staff came under mortar fire outside the eastern city of Deir el-Zour.
One man died immediately, but the other died as a result of sustained injuries in the hospital, the ministry stated.
