The management of the privately-owned higher institution, Caleb University has announced the commencement of the newly accredited doctorate degree programme in architecture for the 2018/2019 academic session.
This was disclosed by the acting vice-chancellor of the university, Nosa Owens-Ibie during an interview with newsmen.
According to him, the management has put all necessary facilities and manpower in place to begin the accredited courses.
It would be recalled that the National Universities Commission (NUC) had in August 2018 approved that the university run PhD in architecture and eight other programmes starting from 2018/2019 academic session.
In his words; “We are one of the few universities in Nigeria that have a very special structure for architecture programme,” he said.
“We are ready for the programme with the required manpower and facilities in place and hope to get better too.”
Owens-Ibie said the university had admitted 16 students to kick-start the programme and that lectures would commence immediately.
“This tells the public about the level of subscription and confidence in the university which is remarkable.”
On the increment of students, Nosa said the university has been able to record tremendous increase in students’ enrollment and patronage as a result of its focus on character and academic excellence.
He said; “The God factor, ongoing development and our focus on character and academic excellence being spread by people has resulted in the multiplier effect of students’ enrollment.”
Owens-Ibie promised that the university would continue to improve on its facilities in terms of equipment and manpower for its increasing population.
