It’s been ten months since Siphokazi Booi’s boyfriend has been arrested for allegedly dismembering and burning her body parts. Despite delays in the justice system, the family is happy he was behind bars as he killed her while out on bail.

MONTH AFTER HE WAS RELEASED ON BAIL HE BRUTALLY MURDERED HER

Her dismembered body was found stuffed in a wheelie-bin, burnt and dumped near the Mbekweni train station in Paarl – only 100 metres from Qebe’s shack.

The police arrested him in connection with her death but Qebe fled when they arrived to question him.

He subsequently appeared in court in May this year.

Qebe’s shack received the same response when an angry community of White City informal settlement torched his house and burned car after hearing of his arrest.

BOOI’S FAMILY WANTS BOYFRIEND TO STAY IN JAIL

All Booi’s family asked for was to never see Qebe out of jail again, her sister Nontando said.

She says she feels pained each time she passes the murder scene.

“What happened to my sister is evil and inhumane. I want to see justice for my sister whom I raised she was four years old,” she said.

The Paarl Regional Court postponed the matter to December because of a retiring magistrate, said Action Society.

‘WHAT HAPPENED TO MY SISTER IS EVIL AND INHUMANE’

“It’s unfortunate that the matter will only resume in a few months. But the family is satisfied that the suspect will remain behind bars until then. Seeing a perpetrator of crime every day adds tremendously to the trauma of victims of violent crimes.”
