As part of the effort to resolve the issues that led to the strike in public universities, the Federal Government will meet with the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities today, Thursday, February 7, 2019.

The meeting was confirmed by the acting Director of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Iliya Rhoda.

It was gathered that the union’s last meeting with the Ministry of Labour and Employment agreed to resume talks today.

Twitter users have, however, taken to their various handles to react to the news. According to a user, he noted that ASUU is being used as a political tool.

Speaking on what is likely to happen at the meeting today, the user said, “FG will come and pretend that they didn’t see on the news yesterday that lecturers rejected their offer and at the end, they will declare another deadlock meeting.”
