The Kaduna State Polytechnic chapter of theAcademic Staff Union ofvPolytechnics (ASUP) has compiled with the indefinite strike embarked by the union on Wednesday.

This was made known by the Union chairman, Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim.

Speaking with news men, Dr Aliyu noted thatthe Kaduna chapter totally compiled with the directive of the union adding they will remain on strike until they are directed otherwise.

In his words; “We will remain on strike until directed otherwise by our National executives.”

It was however gathered that the Kaduna Polytechnic has been on strike and are expected to resume fully in January2019.

Speaking with newsmen, a student who pleaded anonymity appealed to the Federal Government to dialogue with the union and resolve disagreements.

“It is only in Nigeria that government and authorities of institutions do not value the future of students that is why if university students are not at home because of strike, it will be Polytechnic students or students of Colleges of education.

“It is a common thing that those from well-to-do parents go to foreign countries where you have steady system of academic programmes while majority of us continue to suffer on things we know nothing about.”

An applicant, who has applied for admission in the school called on both parties to go to the negotiation table and iron things out.

“I have stayed at home for quite too long and hoping to secure admission in Kaduna Polytechnic. The strike, if prolonged will affect my chance of securing admission this session,” helamented.
