AmaZulu FC chairperson Sandile Zungu has weighed in on the rumours linking Ernst Middendorp with the club following Brandon Truter’s exit.

Usuthu recently parted ways with Truter who resigned on Thursday due to ‘personal matters’ as cited by his agent Basia Michaels.

Immediately after his departure, speculation began that Middendorp would take the reins as the KwaZulu-Natal outfit’s mentor.

However, speaking to Ukhozi FM on Thursday, Zungu dismissed the rumours and said they will announce Truter’s replacement in the next few days.

ZUNGU ON MIDDENDORP’S RUMOURS

“We’ve got a problem with some misleading reports sometimes about the coaches, whose names are being linked with us out there,” Zungu said as quoted by SABC Sports.

“We could be announcing our new coach in the next two to three days. Those who leaked that [Middendorp story], let them continue with their rumour mongering.”

The German coach has also been linked with the Swallows coaching job after the Birds sacked Dylan Kerr towards the end of September.

However, Middendorp distanced himself from that vacancy, saying he had been offered a job overseas.

MIDDENDORP ON SWALLOWS JOB

“I will not join Swallows,” Middendorp told Soccer Laduma.

“With the beginning of October 2022, I will be involved in a project at FIFA. During a workshop in Zurich, I will be introduced to more details about my specific tasks in the future.”
