Sheriff Mulade has applauded the Federal Government for the successful take-off of the Maritime University of Nigeria (MUN), Okerenkoko, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State.
In a statement made available to newsmen at the weekend in Warri, the Niger Delta environmentalist expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for the smooth take-off.
He equally commended the efforts of the Delta State Government for the actualization of the institution.
The Delta State House of Assembly hopeful said: “I want to sincerely express my appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State for their tireless efforts towards the kick-off of the Maritime University Nigeria, Okerenkoko. I want to equally commend other stakeholders for supporting the take-off of the university. It was not easy getting the university off the ground.
While hailing the Federal Government over the feat, Mulade said: “We are assuring the federal and state governments of a conducive learning environment and the guarantee of security to staff and students of the university now that normal academic activities have kicked off in the university.”
He, however, appealed for a special focus on the development of the Niger Delta Region, particularly the riverine oil and gas host communities to give them a sense of belonging.
