Asuu tasks fg on unemployed nigerian graduates

A very timely and relevant topic!

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has indeed called on the Federal Government (FG) to address the issue of unemployed Nigerian graduates. Here are some key points from their recent demands:

  1. Job Creation: ASUU is demanding that the FG creates jobs for Nigerian graduates, particularly in the public sector, to reduce the high rate of unemployment among graduates.
  2. Reforms in the Education Sector: The union is calling for reforms in the education sector to make it more responsive to the needs of the country. This includes increasing funding for education, improving infrastructure, and enhancing the quality of education.
  3. Addressing Brain Drain: ASUU is also demanding that the FG takes steps to address the brain drain in the country, which is caused by the lack of job opportunities and poor working conditions for Nigerian graduates.
  4. Improving the Economy: The union is calling on the FG to implement policies that will improve the economy and create jobs, such as investing in infrastructure, promoting entrepreneurship, and diversifying the economy.
  5. Addressing the Issue of Unemployed Graduates: ASUU is demanding that the FG takes concrete steps to address the issue of unemployed graduates, including providing them with skills training, entrepreneurship support, and job placement services.

In a statement, ASUU President, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, said: "The FG must take immediate steps to address the issue of unemployment among Nigerian graduates. We cannot continue to have a situation where our graduates are roaming the streets without jobs. It is the responsibility of the government to provide jobs for our graduates and to ensure that they are gainfully employed."

The union has also threatened to embark on a strike if the FG fails to address their demands.
