At least ten people have been reported killed and 20 injured after a bus travelling from Bhubaneswar to Hyderabad fell into a river near Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh early today. The accident took place on National Highway 65 in Krishna district, India.
The driver was said to have failed to negotiate a bridge divider on National Highway 65 and over ran it. Rescuers had to use gas cutters to pull out people from mangled coach.
All the injured have been shifted to Nandigama Government Hospital. Condition of 10 is stated to be critical.
According to reports, the bus, which had to cover nearly 1000 km, made a stop in Vijaywada where a new driver took the steering wheel.
The driver failed to negotiate a bridge divider and over ran it. The vehicle plunged into the river.
