Emeka Iwuchukwu, a 25 year old labourer has been docked for allegedly killing a 22 year old commercial motorcyclist, Jubril Alji. Also, he robbed the deceased of his motorcycle worth N150,000.
It was gathered that the suspect who pretended to be a passenger had asked the deceased Alji to convey him to a place in Ajah, Lagos State on his motorcycle. The suspect was said to have hit Alji with a plank on the head along a bush path at Lafiaji Village, Ajah which led to his death.
Iwuchukwu was arrested by the operatives of State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCID) Panti, Yaba after Alji’s brother intercepted on November 18, along Orchids Hotel Road, Ajah.
He has been arraigned before the Ebute Metta Magistrate Court on a two- count charge of murder and robbery. His plea was not taken.
The presiding magistrate, Miss K.A. Ariyo has ordered the accused remanded in prison custody pending the DPP’s advice as the court lacks jurisdiction on murder cases. The case was adjourned to January 9th, 2017.
