Ephesians 5 good news version

Here is Ephesians 5 in the Good News Version (GNV):

Ephesians 5:1-33

  1. Be imitators of God, as dearly loved children. 2. And live in a way that brings honor to the Lord, because you belong to him and you are his people.

  2. Don't be like the world, which is influenced by the evil one. Instead, let God transform you into a new person, one that is all he wants you to be. And God has said, "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you."

  3. I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. 5. And I will put my Spirit within you, and you will come to know me. You will know that I am the Lord, and you will live according to my ways.

  4. Be angry, and yet do not sin. Don't let the sun go down while you are still angry. 7. Don't give the devil a foothold in your life.

  5. Get rid of all kinds of evil and all that is like it. Don't be mean-spirited or jealous of others. Instead, be kind and compassionate, and forgive others, just as God forgave you in Christ.

  6. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. 10. He did this to make her holy, cleansing her by washing with water through the word.

  7. And to present her to himself as a glorious church, without a single stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

  8. In the same way, husbands should love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man loves his wife with himself, and he gives himself up for her.

  9. And no one has ever seen or heard of such great love. You will not find it in the world now, and you won't find it in the future. God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

  10. You see, Christ gave himself up for us. This is a mystery of his great love for us. And I pray that you will have the same love for each other that Christ has for the church. He gave himself up for her to make her holy and to present her to himself as a glorious church.

  11. And the church will be his glorious bride, without a single stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

  12. In the same way, husbands should love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man loves his wife with himself, and he gives himself up for her.

  13. And no one has ever seen or heard of such great love. You will not find it in the world now, and you won't find it in the future. God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

  14. You see, Christ gave himself up for us. This is a mystery of his great love for us. And I pray that you will have the same love for each other that Christ has for the church. He gave himself up for her to make her holy and to present her to himself as a glorious church.

  15. And the church will be his glorious bride, without a single stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

  16. You wives must respect your husbands and help them in their work. Then the message of God will spread, and people will praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  17. Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

  18. Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23. For the husband is the head of the wife, just as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of the body.

  19. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

  20. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

  21. To present her to himself as a glorious church, without a single stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

  22. In the same way, husbands should love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man loves his wife with himself, and he gives himself up for her.

  23. No one has ever seen or heard of such great love. You will not find it in the world now, and you won't find it in the future. God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

  24. You see, Christ gave himself up for us. This is a mystery of his great love for us. And I pray that you will have the same love for each other that Christ has for the church. He gave himself up for her to make her holy and to present her to himself as a glorious church.

  25. And the church will be his glorious bride, without a single stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

  26. In the same way, husbands should love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man loves his wife with himself, and he gives himself up for her.

  27. No one has ever seen or heard of such great love. You will not find it in the world now, and you won't find it in the future. God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

  28. And I pray that you will have the same love for each other that Christ has for the church. He gave himself up for her to make her holy and to present her to himself as a glorious church.
