In order to comply adequately with the Executive Order of the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS,  has officially said it is putting in place a work shift time table for a 24 hour work model for its men.

The acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, issued on Thursday, May 18 three executive orders to ease business, fast-track budget submission and promote made in Nigeria products.

The Comptroller-General, Col Hammed Ali, made this known at a stakeholders meeting in Lagos. Ali said the work shift is in line with meeting the deadline for the implementation of the Executive Order and added that the shift process on which officers have been informed and prepared to comply with, is the necessary thing to do.

“There is no way we can stretch one person for 24 hours, so we have to adopt the process of shift and that is the only way we can cover the Executive order on  24 hours port operation effectively” He said.

The MD of the Nigerian Ports Authority, (NPA), Ms Hadiza Bala Usman, maintained that other heads of agencies operating at the ports have taken similar steps to ensure compliance with the order.

She said further that a previous gathering of officers was meant to evaluate the implementation of the order by all concerned in the ports.
