A 34-year-old rape suspect, Kolawole Haruna, Wednesday, was arraigned at the Ikeja Magistrates Court for an alleged defilement of his neighbour’s 13-year-old daughter.
The accused is an unemployed, who lives at 19, Ayobode St., Oke Ira, in Ogba area of Lagos and is facing a two-count charge.
Sgt. Raphael Donny, who is the prosecutor said the offences were committed on March 19 at the accused residence.
Donny reportedly said the accused called the young girl into his room in pretense of sending her on an errand.
“The accused shut the door and raped her, “he remarked.
The offences contravened Sections 257 and 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
But the accused has denied the charges. Meanwhile, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Davies Abegunde, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum. The case has been postponed till May 15 by Abegunde for Director of Public Prosecution’s advice.
